Witch's Chit-Chat: Facebook, Tarot, Books n' More

This week I changed my user-name on Facebook, dropping the Wiccan title, so that my FB user-name is the same name being used on my books (Amythyst Raine). I thought it would make it easier for people to find me. I also changed the name on the url to my Facebook page before I realized that it would break the link everywhere I might have it posted-- oops! So I've been trying to make the internet rounds and correct this, but I'm sure I've missed some links... My new FB url is: http://www.facebook.com/amythystraine

I'm working on my December newsletter, and this newsletter will be my last one. Because of other writing obligations, I'll be discontinuing The Witch's Corner newsletters indefinitely. This blog has become so successful (Magickal Connections), that I will be using this spot for updates, stories, inspiration, networking, promoting, and otherwise shooting the breeze. The links to all my newsletters, including the older archives, can be found in the sidebar (right side) on the home-page of The Witch's Corner. Churning out newsletters on a regualr basis, first monthly and later on quarterly, has been an experience in determination and perseverance!

For anyone who might not have heard the news, my next book is on the way! "The Gray Witch's Grimore" was accepted for publication by Moon Books, an imprint of John Hunt Publishing. Production is expected to take approximately six months. I'll be posting updates, including cover art and release dates, as this information becomes available. I'm thrilled!-- this project is one that is close to my heart. It is, in essence, my own brand of magickal practice.

Complete:
A 7 Chakra Engraved Pendulum Set

This gorgeous set of pendulums is available at my website-- click Here. I find this set of pendulums perfect for chakra balancing. They feel wonderfully trembling and 'alive' in your hands. Each pendulum is unique to a particular chakra, through both the stone used and the symbol engraved on each stone. After I received this set of pendulums in the mail and realized how much I like them, I decided that I'd have to have a set for myself-- and you have no idea how often this happens for me!

I drew the following card specifically for myself...but this doesn't mean that it won't apply itself to other individuals who come upon this post...

Tarot Card of the Day: Ace of Cups...reversed. This card, when appearing
in this manner, let's me know that a relationship or friendship has ended. It is ironic that this card has showed up at this time, but not surprising. The universe, the All, or whatever spirits or energies work through these cards, always seems to be in tune with me and my life. Someone has left my circle, through their own desire, through mine, through fate, through a series of synchronistic events, however it happened, the bottom line is that they are no longer a part of my life, and I assumed that they would be for decades to come. It just goes to show that nothing in this world can be counted on as permanent, because life is a series of continuous transitions. As the old saying goes, "When one door closes, another shall open", and this is true. It also brings to mind the magickal rule-- when a space is emptied, it creates a vacuum, and the vacuum will not stay empty, it will be filled. And this is also true.

It's best to remember that people often come into our lives for a season, at a time that we are meant to connect with them to share and learn and grow. But there might come a point when it's time to move on, when the lessons are learned and all that's meant to be shared has been. It is a natural progression of the seasons.

I have been thinking about giving local tarot readings by appointment only. The main issue I have here is that I'm not sure I would want to open my home up to total strangers. The fix to this issue would seem to be simple-- find another venue. I was thinking that I could simply meet a client for coffee somewhere, but I'm not sure that just any establishment would allow a customer to spread tarot cards on the table and give readings-- although personally I would consider this a private conversation between two individuals, not every restaurant or coffee shop owner might look at it this way. I have a couple of people that I have to talk to, owners of coffee spots here in town, and I'm going to see how they would feel about having a tarot reader and a client enjoying a cup of coffee at their establishment. If I find the ideal spot to hold tarot pow-wows, you'll see my advertisement in the local paper. Stay tuned.

Dreams...I only remember a snippet: I'm on the phone, talking to someone on the east coast from the Scifi program, TAPS. In my dream I've been invited to be a guest on the program for an episode. The thing is that I will have to fly on a commercial aircraft in order to be there on time for taping. I actually felt the sinking feeling in my stomach at this thought-- even though I was only dreaming. The last part of this dream that I remember, I am reluctantly asking someone over the phone, "Isn't there any other way to get there?"

And this is what happens when you watch a whole day of TAPS reruns on Scifi.

I've received an increased number of phone calls from people this week with questions, requests, and all kinds of things. I have to say that most of you must have paid attention to those 'guidelines' for contacting me, which I posted to this blog. Almost everyone identified themselves, and they were all very polite, and no one called at the crack of dawn or at the witching hour...thank you!

When you contact me...Guidelines:

Okay folks, it’s time to set down some guidelines. Some of the rules that fall into this guideline are just common sense, and others might stem from my own personal preference. I receive a number of emails and phone calls from people-- most of them total strangers

If you dial my cell phone number, you should be aware of my rules:

1. Identify yourself.

If you called my number for a reason, you know me. I deserve the courtesy of knowing who you are. Personal readings from me, whether done through phone, webcam, or email are not done anonymously. If you intend to be my client, I need to know who you are. If you don’t feel you can divulge this information to me, then I am not the psychic for you.

2. Don’t expect to call my number and receive a cold reading on the spot.

I don’t jump at all times of the day or night when a stranger unexpectedly calls my number and expects a reading then and there. Here are the rules if you want a telephone reading:

First: go to this link, http://ladyamythyst.webs.com/tarotreadings.htm , and order a telephone reading through Paypal.

Second: only after you’ve paid for a telephone reading, call my number to set up an appointment for your reading. I’m busy, my time is scheduled. We’ll look at the calendar and set a time and date that will work for both of us.

Third: I will only take calls between 9am and 6pm, Monday-Saturday, unless otherwise scheduled.

If you email me for a reading…

First: if you haven’t purchased a reading through Paypal at the link above, don’t bother emailing me. If I haven’t received a payment, I won’t respond. This might sound harsh, but this is a service that I offer to the public and it takes up a great deal of my time-- I expect to be paid for my time and effort.

Second: only after you’ve paid for an online (email) reading, email me with any questions or concerns that you might have regarding the reading.

Third: you can expect to receive your reading within 3-7 days of my receiving your payment and any correspondence from you regarding your reading. Please be patient; I only do a certain number of readings per day, and the readings are done in the order they are received.

Missing Person Case

It's been a long time since I've done one of these readings, and I can't really explain what prompted me to do this one, other than it's a complusion that often feels that it comes from somewhere other than me. In my book, "Tarot: A Witch's Journey", I included several missing person/criminal case readings; some have been solved and others have not. I've never publicly posted a reading for a case that was still open and on-going in the glare of the public eye, so this is a new venture for me. I think the biggest deterent to doing readings like this is for most psychics is the fear of being 'wrong'. Psychic readings are not, after all, an exact science. But as I've said many times before-- I've never regretted anything I've said in any psychic reading; but I have regretted many things that I left unsaid.

I am aware of this case, but I have not been following it closely in the news, so I don't know what's been found or where, who all the characters are in the scenario, or where the case stands right now. I have not attempted to look at the information that 's come to me during this reading in a logical manner; I simply wrote down what came to mind, what showed up in the cards, and the answers that I received with my pendulum. I simply pass along the information received, I don't try to explain it.

Missing Person Reading
11-8-2011
Subject: “Baby Lisa”

Lisa Irwin
Kansas City, Missouri
Disappeared: October 3, 2011

Six cards were drawn, laid in pyramid fashion, i.e. three cards at the top in the first row, two cards beneath that, and a single card at the bottom. I call this my ‘window’, and this gives me a basic foundational look at the overall picture. To expand this information, that is to learn more from any one of the cards laid in this original spread, I will remove this card from the pyramid and draw three more cards for it. This is the general way I begin a reading.

The Pyramid:

Knight/wands ®………10/wands ®………Queen/pentalces

10/swords………2/wands ®

2/swords

First impressions:

As I begin turning the cards with my left hand, I have a pen in my right hand and I begin jotting down whatever comes into my mind, whether it makes any sense or not, often I am not even looking at the paper I’m writing on, but stay focused on the cards. The result is that when I refer to this sheet of paper, I will see things written all over it in a helter-skelter fashion. The idea is not to think or dwell on ideas or impressions, but just to jot them down as quickly as they pop into my head, the reason being that my sub-conscious thought process is much more aware than that part of my mind that deals with logic.

The following narrative is my first impression of these cards:

Ran away/charging to the rescue/thundering- pounding/arrogant & loyal/a waning moon/a leather belt/a crossroads- water- butterflies/a great burden or weight/a woman who does not see- denial/blind/denial/a pile of logs or wood- feathers-reptiles/waiting by the water/reptiles-wood-feathers/the mother/earth/garden/poppies/logs-trees-timber/a stone barrier/butterflies-moths-water/death- cut, stabbed, pierced

Second impressions:

After jotting down the first impression of each individual card, I’ll look at the pyramid as a whole and see what type of information, if any, unfolds. Most of the time, the cards will tell a story:

The first thing that comes to mind is that two individuals are involved in Baby Lisa’s disappearance, and these individuals share a deep connection or partnership of some kind. The ten of swords, in my readings, is the closest that comes to any card for showing a death. At any rate, it’s never a good sign and generally smacks of foreboding dark energy. The female character involved in Lisa’s disappearance either acted rashly, not thinking things through clearly; or she was not the major participant in this event, but rather was more of an accomplice. Her main contribution to this scenario right now is her lack of will to reveal needed information.

At this point, I’m going to draw more cards for some of the original cards first laid to expand the story:

Queen of Pentacles

7/wands ®………The Magician………Page/pentacles ®

The Queen, I feel, represents the female involved in Lisa’s disappearance, and I believe that in this case, it may be a maternal figure. This is a woman who feels caught between two strong male figures, which leaves her with a sense of helplessness in some aspect and an inability to act on her own, either because of intimidation, the desire to protect someone, or fear.

The following cards-- the magician and the page of pentacles seems to represent two separate male figures, and one of them possesses more control in this situation than the other. One has more power and a dominant position within the triangle, and one is more reckless and questionable-- both in character and behavior. The page indicates that one of these male figures may be considerably younger than the other.

The seven of wands indicates conflict within this group, which can include power plays, disagreements, and feelings of defensiveness.

10/swords

The Tower ®………3/cups ®………The Sun ®

These cards indicate that there was some cataclysmic event which most likely led to the injury or death of Baby Lisa. The cards point to three individuals being involved, though it’s not clear whether these individuals were all involved together at the moment of the event, or whether someone came into this scenario after the fact. The cards do leave me with the impression that whatever this horrific event was, it may have been an accident at the beginning, leading to a conspiracy to hide the fact afterwards.

The reading above offers a scenario, along with a cast of possible suspects or characters connected to the story. However, the fact remains that someone is physically missing and more detailed information is required in order to find this person. Tarot cards don’t provide this type of information for me. In order to gather more detailed data through psychic means, I used a map and my pendulum.

This first pendulum reading done here, is done with a rough hand-drawn map that gives me perimeters stemming from the original location, in this case the house and yard, and gradually broadening out mile by mile from the central spot. I take it one step at a time, beginning in the center of the map, which in this case is the house, and moving in an ever widening circle, asking precise questions as I go. The four cardinal points of the compass are also indicated on this map-- north, east, south, and west.

1. Is Baby Lisa physically within the house?

No

2. Is Baby Lisa physically within the garage?

Yes. The pendulum indicated that evidence could be found in this area. On my hand-drawn map, I added a ‘garage’ onto the east side of the building, though in reality, I’m unfamiliar with the house and grounds. I just wanted to be able to exclude a garage or attached garage, if there is one; and I inadvertently add this attachment to the east side of the main location (the house).

3. Is Baby Lisa physically in the yard, or on the grounds, that goes with this house?

Yes. Apparently there is evidence that can be found in this area. I haven’t been following this case closely, so I’m not sure what may already have been discovered, if anything, or where, so I want to narrow this general question down to be more specific about the direction within the yard where this evidence can be found.

4. Is Baby Lisa physically located in the north side of the yard?

No

5. Is Baby Lisa physically located in the west side of the yard?

No

6. Is Baby Lisa physically located in the south side of the yard?

No

7. Is Baby Lisa physically located in the east side of the yard?

Yes. Once again, the pendulum gave a positive response when held over the map on the east side of the main location, which is the house. I don’t know if there is a garage on this side of the building, but if there is, or if there is an outbuilding of some kind located here, it’s indicated that evidence can be found in this location. If the authorities have already searched this area, which I presume they have, I would tell them to look again.

You said What?!...Let Your Psychic Read

One of the things on my mind are tarot readings and people's often unexpected reactions to what they hear. I've been informed that a lady I did a reading for was 'offended' by something I said. To tell you the truth, I remember the gist of the reading, but not absolutely everything that I said as I interpreted the cards. Let me explain how this process works for those who don't know-- for me, as I turn the cards and view the images, thoughts, perceptions, and pictures begin flooding my mind. You will get the best reading from me if I just open my mouth and start talking as I turn the cards and before the thought or image vanishes. This means that I can't stop to weigh and measure every word that comes from my mouth during every minute of the reading. If I would do this, the process would not work, the rythm would be lost. I can't pause and break my chain of thought to ask myself, "Would this person be offended if I tell them that they have a tendency to procrastinate to the point of ruining their own chance of success?"...Nope, can't do it-- if I read for someone, I will open my mouth and let it roll, whatever comes up with the cards will just have to come up. I wouldn't be doing justice to the reading-- or my client-- if I have to weigh and measure how sensitive every stranger that sits across from me may be.

That's just the way it is, and that's just the way it works. Will you be offended by anything said in a reading? Odds are, no. But I won't guarantee that this won't happen. And here's just a little food for thought...If someone is offended by something that's said in a reading-- what would they think about all of the things that go unsaid? (If only they knew!!)

A psychic reading is a very intimate thing, it allows the reader a peek at your psyche-- all bare and pink and fresh, with every pimple and imperfection laid out in plain site. Just remember that your reader is on your side; your reader is not there to pass judgement. And just like a doctor in a war zone, most psychics can say 'we've seen it all'.
